Dr. Alex Tauchen

Hip and knee replacement specialist

Many orthopedic surgeons treat hip and knee arthritis. Dr. Tauchen understands what it feels like when joint pain takes away the activities you love. A lifelong athlete, Dr. Tauchen played competitive hockey through college and remains active today through cycling, golf, running, and fitness. He knows firsthand how important movement is—not just for physical health, but for quality of life.

That perspective shapes the way he cares for patients. Whether someone wants to return to a 50-mile bike ride, walk a golf course, keep up with grandchildren, or simply get through a grocery store without pain, Dr. Tauchen believes treatment should focus on helping patients get back to living their lives.

As a fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement specialist focusing on robotic kinematic alignment knee replacement and anterior hip replacement, Dr. Tauchen performs hundreds of joint replacement procedures each year. He utilizes advanced technologies including robotic-assisted knee replacement and modern hip replacement techniques designed to improve precision and recovery. But technology is only part of the equation.

Patients often tell Dr. Tauchen that what stands out most is how accessible and approachable his team is throughout the process. Questions don’t always happen during office hours, and concerns don’t follow a schedule. That’s why Dr. Tauchen and his team prioritize communication and responsiveness from the first office visit through recovery.

His philosophy is simple: treat every patient the way he would want a member of his own family treated.

No unnecessary complexity. No confusing medical jargon. Just honest conversations, personalized care, and a clear plan to help patients move better and feel better.

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Tauchen enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, cycling local roads, golfing, running, and cheering on youth sports from the bench.
