Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery
These systems are an advancement in the way orthopedic surgeons perform partial knee replacement. The system works in conjunction with our surgeon’s skilled hands to achieve the precise positioning of the knee implant based on each patient’s unique anatomy. This added level of accuracy can help improve the function, feel and potential longevity of the partial knee implant.
Each patient is unique, and can experience joint pain for different reasons. It’s important to talk to us about the reason for your knee pain so you can understand the treatment options available to you. Pain from arthritis and joint degeneration can be constant or come and go, occur with movement or after a period of rest, or be located in one spot or many parts of the body. It is common for patients to try medication and other conservative treatments to treat their knee pain. If you haven’t experienced adequate relief with those treatment options, you may be a candidate for Mako Total Knee replacement, which may provide you with relief from your knee pain.
ALEX TAUCHEN, MD
HIP AND KNEE REPLACEMENT AT HINSDALE ORTHOPAEDICS
My main goal in treating patients with hip and knee issues is to make sure that they fully understand both the nature of their problem and all of the treatment options available to them. I strongly believe in maximizing non-operative treatment such as physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and various types of injections prior to proceeding with surgery. If we decide together that primary hip / knee replacement or revision surgery is the best option, I spend the time necessary to make sure that the procedure is explained in detail and that all of the patient’s questions are answered. This is very important to me because I believe that patient education, understanding, and managing expectations are crucial for a good outcome. I strive to provide the highest quality of care from the time I initially meet the patient and their family all the way through their final phases of recovery.
